Know your candidate before casting your vote

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is planning to run as the Republican candidate for the 2016 presidential election. The governor and his staff are currently being investigated for their attachment to the George Washington Bridge scandal that occurred in September.

Christie's situation is extremely suspicious due to the chain of events. Reports say that Christie has apologized numerous times, but once the plate is broken, it can't be made usable again.

How are Americans supposed to trust this man as our president if he can't even remain loyal to the citizens in the state he governs?

Christie denies any ties he has with the scandal as it hinders his potential candidacy in the presidential election. Christie has said he didn't know about the alleged plot and was "embarrassed and humiliated" by it.

Personally, I think the governor's apology sounds like a bunch of bologna. The traffic jam arose after Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich failed to endorse Christie in his re-election. I believe the reason for the jam was simply because the Democratic mayor didn't support the Republican governor in his re-election.

Whether Christie is innocent of not knowing about the plot, it is his responsibility to approve any decisions made by his staff before it is conducted.

The traffic jam caused for a 91-year-old woman to die because emergency vehicles couldn't reach her in time to take care of her. Christie is already causing suffering to the citizens in America, and he is only the governor of New Jersey. Imagine the damage he could do as president of the United States.

Early on, the governor dismissed questions about the lane closures with jokes and denial of him and his staff's involvement with the traffic jam until emails and text messages were found revealing the involvement of Christie's deputy chief of staff, Bridget Kelly.

Christie told reporters Jan. 9 he was "stunned at the abject stupidity that was shown here."

"Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," Kelly wrote in an Aug. 13 email sent from her personal account to David Wildstein, Christie's high school friend and former employee.

Wildstein, who resigned in December, is held in contempt of court for refusing to testify his participation with the scandal.

Democrats and other liberal media plan to destroy Christie's reputation. Republicans, on the other hand, still believe the governor has a chance in the White House. Democrats in New Jersey and across the nation have said that this is the chance for the country to see that Christie is a bully and runs his government based on fear.

Christie was also questioned on his improper use of the Hurricane Sandy relief funds to sponsor tourism ads starring him and his family. It is vital for voters to be well informed about Christie's behavior. The potential candidate has a scandalous history involving citizens.

The citizens of America have a voice that is much more powerful than money. We need to take advantage of our resources and research the wrongdoers that are placed in our government.

What Christie and his staff have done to the state of New Jersey is unacceptable. Whether he knew about the plot or not, a confrontation with Sokolich could have been handled in various appropriate manners. Prevent America from being fooled and take these scandals into consideration when voting.
