Florida A&M University graduate Chasity Logan has joined forces with five other alumni of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to take part in ASPiRE Television's web series "The Graduates NYC."

Through the show, ASPiRE brings together artists, moguls, entrepreneurs and executives -- like Logan -- to present their careers, social lives and relationships on the new television series to shine a light on HBCUs.

Each of the six cast members will live together in New York City. In addition to a FAMU graduate, others hail from North Carolina A&T State, Howard, North Carolina Central and Hampton universities and Morehouse College. This web series unveils the success of the graduates’ career and various lifestyles.

After receiving funding from the entertainment companies, creator and executive producer Randolph Sturrup found the six individuals to star in the new show. With open casting calls, as well as searching around the city, the cast is comprised of: Britteny Blackmon (Howard U), Emilee Christopher (NCAT), Kian Brown (NCC), Chasity Logan (FAMU), Herman Riley (MC) and Ian Davis (Hampton U). Sturrup names his cast, “smart, driven and superstars in their field.”

During filming Logan was the senior vice president of marketing and development for a large non-profit drug rehabilitation company. Since then, she has found a new position with a non-profit converging educational programming for teens and families as the director of individual givings and special events coordinator.

"Attending FAMU was one of the best decisions of my life," Logan said. "When you leave, don’t just think you’re leaving FAMU behind."

Logan is a third-generation HBCU graduate, and in that she attests to the power of these institutions. While attending, she’s had copious amounts of internships which led to job opportunities that complements her success today.

"Every job that I have had was because of a fellow FAMUAN," Logan said.

Sturrup teamed up with NBC's Al Roker and RDS Entertainment to pitch the show in 2014. His main objective for the show is to “reach, connect, and inspire,” by shedding a positive light on HBCUs and the distinguished scholars that are produced from the institutions. He considers it a TV series for young black millennials to gain inspiration for their post life in college.

Celebrating positive images of HBCUs all over, “The Graduate NYC” sends a message to budding college graduates that they did indeed choose the right source for higher learning.

“The foundation, values and discipline instilled in you at HBCUs is like no other,” Sturrup said.

ASPiRE is a television entertainment network which illustrates black and urban culture through “heart and humor.”

Magic Johnson Enterprises launched ASPiRE in 2012, with the network offering distinct programs featuring movies, series, comedy, news/information, lifestyle and more.

ASPiRE has risen from its origin and is now available in 24 of the top 25 African-American markets among Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, New York City and Washington, D.C.
