The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Lady Rattlers Volleyball team defended their home court against North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Friday night.

The lady Rattlers dominated from start to finish, beating the Lady Eagles in 3 sets 25-17, 25-16, and 25-18.

The Rattlers came into the game with a 2-14 record.

FAMU Head Coach Tanio Trifonov said that the win came from a few changes in the rotation and a good week of preparation.

“I think the change in our lineup works, we have been trying different people, but in practice this lineup stuck. For the first time we had a hard week of practice,” Trifinov said.

The Rattlers seemed to be a force at the net tonight against the 3-16 NCCU Eagles.

Starmichael Tucker, a redshirt junior outside hitter and middle blocker believes that their season could go well if they focus on stick to what they know.

“As long as we just play our game and not let the pressure of winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) get to us, we should do great this year.”

The Rattlers are now 3-1 in the conference. Tucker knows that they have to keep that momentum going throughout the season in order to be competitive in the MEAC.

“I think the team has a really good chance but we can’t lose the focus we had tonight.”

Dei’Ja Martin, a junior middle blocker said the team’s bond holds them together.

“We all lean on each other and I think that’s what keeps the team together.”

The Lady Rattlers have started out strong so far in conference play and look to add to another win Sunday against North Carolina A&T at 3 p.m ET in the Al Lawson Center.
