Final Defendant in Custody for Champion Homicide

Twenty-year-old Lasherry Codner surrendered to authorities Sunday for her alleged involvement in the fatal hazing of Florida A&M drum major Robert Champion in November. She is the last of 11 people charged with felony hazing that resulted in the young man’s death; she is also the only woman charged with the felony.

Authorities have been arresting defendants since Wednesday after state prosecutors went public with charges against 13 individuals for their alleged involvement in the hazing-turned-homicide. The first two were arrested that afternoon, another six were arrested Thursday, and two were arrested Friday; they all turned themselves in.

All of the men and the woman allegedly involved were beating 19 and 26. At least, one will face more charges for violation probation.
