America’s longest-running urban gospel play, ” Church Mess,” will be performed at Florida A&M’s Lee Hall auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday.
The play depicts church-going people whose problematic lives contradict their message of turning to the church when in need. The characters in the play are based on real people, but the situations comically exaggerated.
“Church Mess” will feature national recording artist Alicia Robinson Cooper, the lead singer of “He’s My Rock” on John P. Kee and the VIP Choir’s “Lily of the Valley” CD, Chad Cooper, actor and comedian, Virginia Bostic, the lead singer of “It’s Praying Time,” and Leofric Thomas from the Miami Mass Choir.
The play has been performed in numerous packed theaters and sold out shows in over 100 cities. The play has been compared by magazines to other top plays like “The Color Purple,“Tyler Perry’s “Madea Goes To Jail,” and David Talbert’s “The Fabric Of A Man.”
