After attending Florida A&M’s Parents’ Weekend, Gretchen Plummer-Smith, a parent to an incoming freshmen, developed the idea of The Rattler Pride Parent’s Association.
Plummer-Smith, a FAMU alumna, said the association plans to work with the university, students and parents to sponsor activities both on and off campus and to raise money for scholarships and current programs.
Some of the newly formed association’s major goals are to strengthen communication between students, parents and the university and to advocate for the improvement of the university.
The association will support activities that will aid in the enrichment of the education students are receiving and ensure their safety and security.
By supporting various programs and entities within the university, one of which being the Office of Student Activities, Plummer-Smith and members of The Rattler Pride Parent’s Association plans to implement many programs designed for the betterment of the university.
“I’m honored to be working with parents, faculty and students in order to make this association a success,” Plummer-Smith said in a press release dated April 17. “It’s going to be hard work, but I’m ready for the challenge. This is truly a passion for me and the hard work involved will be worth it. I want to see the university, parents and students working collectively to make this one of the most profound parents’ association ever.”?
