BET College Tour heats up FAMU

What started off as a questionable afternoon of events suddenly picked up and within an hour and a half as thousands of students arrived to take part in the BET College tour. The smell of barbeque filled the air of FAMU Park. SGA had tents set up giving away free food, drinks and Italian ice. Blazin 102.3, FAMU Career Center, Toyota, Coca-Cola, the U.S. Air Force and others vendors were also in attendance.

The Tour included performances by artist Bryan J, Fonzworth Bentley and Billy Blue.

Michelle Garner, vice president of consumer engagement at BET, said that FAMU has been included in the tour for the nine years and “is one of the largest markets,” for the Tour.

Dominique Jones, a senior criminal justice student from West Palm Beach, said she has attended and enjoyed the Tour for the past five years

“I just want to be on TV,” Jones said.
