FAMU students find balance during finals

As finals week begins, Florida A&M University students are locking in and finding ways to stay balanced while preparing for their exams at the end of the semester.

Study spaces across campus, especially Coleman Library, are filled with students reviewing notes, rewatching lectures, and completing last-minute assignments. Many students are trying to find different ways to make studying more interesting. Some students stated that they would prefer to have a study group in order to not get bored, others believe that a study group may be distracting.

However, the main issue that students stated they wanted to work on was their time management. Finding ways to get work done for multiple classes with just only a few weeks left in the semester is a common struggle.

Along with academics, students are also prioritizing their mental and physical health. With stress levels rising, some are taking time to wind down and just relax for a few minutes throughout the day. Others are attending campus events to keep the fun and momentum of student life going.

Staying active has also helped students stay prioritized . Whether it is the gym on campus, a quick workout before or after class, or even just walking around campus, movement is helping many students stay energized and focused.

Sleep and nutrition also play key roles. Students are aiming to get more rest as many stated that they have not had the best sleep schedule, and that they can tell it is messing with their performance. Others have said they’re trying not to drink as much energy drinks and stop cramming in order to not feel overwhelmed.

FAMU students are showing that getting through finals week takes more than just maintaining a routine to get you through one week. It is about staying focused, taking care of yourself plus your mental health and finding a routine that works for you.
