
Over spring break, the Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. attended the sorority’s Florida and Bahamas State Cluster. The chapter was recognized numerous times for their work on Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) campus in the 2023-2024 school year.
Affectionately known as “The BADST”, the Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta was chartered on FAMU’s campus on January 30, 1937. Since that time, they have strived to serve the campus and surrounding Tallahassee community upholding their 5-Point programmatic Thrusts at the root of their service.
The Florida & Alabama State Cluster was held in Orlando, Florida March 14-16. The chapter was awarded the titles ‘Highest of Five – Political Awareness & Involvement’, ‘Highest of Five – Economic Development’, the ‘Innovation in Technology’ award, and ‘Collegiate Chapter of the Year’.
Beta Alpha’s chapter president Machía Sanders (pictured) attended the state cluster along with chapter advisors and other chapter members. “I just have to take a moment to say thank you so much to our advisors for your constant dedication and support! We adore you guys and could not be so successful without you!” she said.
Alongside the chapter’s major wins, members also had the opportunity to engage in leadership development workshops, networking opportunities, and discussions on how to further Delta Sigma Theta’s mission across the state. Their success at the conference is a testament to the chapter’s dedication to scholarship, service, and sisterhood.
As the Beta Alpha Chapter continues to make strides on FAMU’s campus and beyond, their recognition at the Florida & Bahamas State Cluster highlights their unwavering commitment to excellence in all areas of Delta Sigma Theta’s core values.
The conference also provided a space for collegiate members to collaborate with alumnae chapters, share best practices, and gain insight on how to maintain impactful programming on their respective campuses.
