Laughter is set to fill Tallahassee’s airwaves when acclaimed comedian, rapper and actor Katt Williams graces the capital city with his uproarious comedy show, “The Dark Matter Tour.”
Williams has more than two decades of experience in the entertainment industry, and a long repertoire of practice with other celebrities. The comedian will perform this Saturday at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
This event is set to include renowned Black comedians such as Tommy Davidson and Mark Curry. Students are anticipating the show as his presence has taken over their social media and enchanted their hearts. Recently Williams has turned the world of social media into a fiasco after his interview with retired football player turned media personality Shannon Sharpe on his YouTube show “Club Shay Shay.” In this three-hour interview Williams commented on many celebrities including Cedric the Entertainer, Diddy and Ice Cube. He even called out other comedians such as Kevin Hart, claiming he is a part of the illuminati, and Steve Harvey, saying that he stole multiple Williams jokes. Fourth-year business administration student Rayonne McToy says that she appreciated the interview and is excited to see the show.
“I think you can put Katt Williams up there with some of the funniest comedians,” McToy said. “I feel like he’s one of those people who get overlooked in the industry, you see a lot of things but you don’t get to talk about it.”
She adds that after seeing the comedian play a pimp character in the movie “Friday After Next,” and the TV show “The Boondocks,” it made her go back and watch previous stand-up comedy specials that he’s done. Senior criminal justice major Baelin Warthen agrees, saying that he grew fond of the star after seeing his role in “Norbit.”
“I feel like it’s been a while since the whole world has seen him, so I can’t wait to see him. He’s coming back on the market , and I would like to see him do something solo,” Warthen said.
Community members believe Williams’ show will have an even better turnout among the younger community because he is trending attention in the media. He is often remembered by several students for his recent viral quote said to Sharpe,
“You have an unnatural allegiance to losers,” Williams said.
