Many Florida A&M students will tell you that Top Flite is one of the best places to dance your heart out and party till late at night in Tallahassee.

It is full of energy and gives the best experience to those who want to enjoy the best nightlife the capital city has to offer.

The most attractive thing about the club is its drinks. Most reviews say that Top Flite’s drinks are “tastier” and “more effective” than at other places. Entry is 21 years or older at this nightclub.

The owner is known as “Mr. Mac,” and he declined to provide his first name. He shared some interesting backstory to the club that many might not be aware of.

“I started Top Flite when I was 23 years old,” he said. “It’s funny, because we’re still known for our food and we started off as a delivery restaurant for students on campus. We had a full menu instead of just chicken and fish. Burgers, hotdogs, etc. I’m almost 70 years old now so Top Flite has been running for almost 50 years.”

The club throbs with loud, old-school R&B, mixed with some new school R&B and hip-hop music. Patrons praise it for quality alcohol and delicious finger food. Comedy shows and karaoke nights are also offered every week.

The crowd is older, more mature and more fun at Top Flite. The service and servers make this place a customer favorite for locals and regular travelers who come to Tallahassee.

Frenchie Mac, the owner’s daughter, has played a major part in the development of Top Flight.

“Ever since I was younger, I always helped my father out with Top Flite in any way that I could,” she said. “I’ve pretty much handled all the positions. I started off as a cook. When I was old enough, I worked as a bartender. Everyone loved drinks by Frenchie. I even helped host a few events as well.”

Jocelyn Jenkins, a bartender at Top Flite and other entertainment spots around town, has worked for at Top Flite for 18 months. She says she enjoys karaoke on Wednesdays the most because of the energy and great music. She added that it’s a lot of work on busy nights.

Top Flite opened more opportunities for her to tend bar at more places around town, she added.

There’s a dance floor with mirrors, so you can watch everyone dance the night away. It’s overall a nice kickback spot that turns into a nightclub scene in the later hours.

No need to ask the DJ for a request because the music is always on point. Top Flite is definitely a common recommendation when referencing Tallahassee’s nightlife.
