Chloe Duverge represents public relations and Black excellence at its finest. Duverge, a graduate of Florida A&M University, has an incredible resume. She is currently serving as the director of Corporate Communications for BET (Black Entertainment Television), which is a subsidiary of Viacom.
Born and raised on the south side of Chicago to a single mother, Duverge always had a go-getter mentality. However this PR guru didn’t always know that she would land a career in public relations. She graduated at FAMU with a degree in business administration and a minor in marketing.
After interning for the NBA in 2005, Duverge learned that she didn’t enjoy working in sports. Post graduation and jobless, she bought a one-way ticket to New York City to follow her dreams. It wasn’t until Duverge couldn’t find a job that she realized public relations was for her.
On an episode of the popular podcast Confessions of a Werkaholic, Duverge talked about how completing internships and building long-lasting relationships at FAMU had a major influence on her life.
“When you go to an HBCU, the network is just unbelievable,” Duvergesaid.
At the end of the podcast, Duverge gave her three ingredients to success: passion, character and faith. Out of the three, faith played a major role in her life. She had to take many leaps of faith to land all of the positions she earned.
Eventually, Duverge would move on to work for Essence magazine for four years and Revolt Media & TV for approximately five years. Angela Turner, senior vice president of marketing and PR at Revolt TV, left a comment on Duverge’s LinkedIn profile about their prior work experience together.
“Chloe takes the lead — unafraid to learn, take risks, offer insight and instincts and then lean in to ensure success,” said Turner said. “I’ve appreciated Chloe as a team member and resource and will always choose to be on a team with her.”
More recently, Duverge and her husband Jose welcomed a baby girl, Nuri Elle Duverge, into their lives.
“My Nu has changed our lives so much and she’s everything I prayed for. I just love this little human,” Duverge shared in an Instagram post.
The newlyweds’ proposal, Chloe’s baccalaureate party and the wedding all went viral on social media — most notably seen on The Shaderoom. The themed party was called Chlochella, named after the popular music festival Coachella.
Ultimately, Duverge is more than just a publicist. She is a fashionista, the life of the party and a go-getter. She has truly set the bar high for young professionals.
