Raven Blount is empowering women in the beauty industry.
Blount, 27 is a local hairstylist, makeup artist and motivational speaker. The ambitious entrepreneur has always had a gift for creating new looks and uplifting individuals in Tallahassee.
Blount earned an associate’s degree from Tallahassee Community College in 2015. Following that success, Blount enrolled in cosmetology school at Luxe Beauty Institute. In 2017, Blount officially became a licensed cosmetologist.
“My goal is to inspire women to look and be the best version of themselves. Beauty is a significant part of self-care. I want to enhance every client’s confidence and self-love with the services I provide,” Blount said.
Blount was born in Orlando. While balancing college courses, she was consistently practicing her craft on friends and family to achieve new hairstyles.
“I’ve been a loyal customer for almost six years now. Raven’s growth and dedication to her brand is inspiring. The work she does is always consistent. She is extremely talented. If a new hairstyle comes out, she is going to learn how to master that look,” Victoria Clark said.
Blount yearns to open a beauty bar in Orlando, Pink Glam. The beauty bar will provide hair, makeup and nail services. She hopes to launch Pink Glam in 2022.
Blount intends on conducting a family business with her younger relative Cierra Hawthorne. Hawthorne is a licensed nail technician from Jacksonville.
“Raven and I have collaborated together on several different occasions. We both equally enjoy what we do and are devoted to progressing. Not many women where we come from unite and support each other. We plan to repaint that narrative,” Hawthorne said.
Additionally, Blount has been heavily involved in church since the age of 10. She discovered her passion for public speaking as she led the children’s ministry during Sunday school.
Blount continues to make it a priority to attend church events as a motivational speaker, sharing her journey with the youth. Blount uses her voice to encourage young men and women to believe in themselves no matter what background they may come from.
“I didn’t have parents to uplift me as a kid. My support system normally consisted of people who weren’t necessarily my family. Therefore, I want to spread love in as many ways as I can. I know what it’s like to feel empty and alone,” Blount said.
