Florida A&M University Class of 1965 will celebrate their 50th Anniversary April 16-18.
FAMU’s alumni affairs will be hosting a series of events located throughout Tallahassee, with more than 10 events scheduled.
The weekend will begin on Thursday with a meet and greet at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, afterward the class can expect a party.
Brandon Hill, coordinator of membership services & alumni reunions at FAMU said that the attendees will enjoy what they have pay for.
“There is a registration fee which will cover everything and allow the returning Alumni to attend all of the weekend events,” Hill said.
Friday the alumni will attend “Memory lane luncheon” at Hansel E. Tookes Sr. Recreational Center, following the luncheon there will be a “Taste of the Vineyard” tour. The night will close with a talent revue & reception in the Perry Paige ROTC building.
Derika Jones, third-year health informatics and information management student from Pompano, Fla., is excited to see her grandmother reunite with her classmates.
“I’m happy to see my grandmother back on the hill for the weekend to get together with her old college friends and party like they used to back in the day,” Jones said. “She is ready to introduce me to some of her friends from her days on the hill.”
A class reunion cookout at the Faculty club house will be held Saturday afternoon where the Rattlers will get to fellowship with one another.
The weekend will come to an end on Saturday with the Rattler Soiree and FAMU talent showcase.
