Where else can guys can drink outside on Bourbon Street and girls show a little flesh to get beads thrown their way? With its loud music and fun events, New Orleans is the place to be for Spring Break. Mardi Gras is a college student’s dream and Crystal Green, owner of Your Socialbutterfly, organized a trip for eager students.
“The Mardi Gras Madness Party Bus is an opportunity for the community to escape Tallahassee for a weekend to enjoy the culture and festivities of New Orleans,” Green said. “It’s a chance to get on a bus where you don’t have to worry about driving and literally get chauffeured around the city and shuttled to the French Quarter.”
Mardi Gras is a big holiday in New Orleans, filled with music, food, parades and extravagant floats bursting with excitement for everyone to enjoy. The trip was promoted on Blazin’ 102.3, Gulf 104, Star 98, Facebook and Twitter. Travelers received hotel accommodations for two nights and a bag of goodies filled with items from different businesses in the area.
Your Socialbutterfly is Green’s local event and marketing firm. Her company has produced several large-scale events, including the Tallahassee Fitness Festival, Tallahassee Food Festival and a host of other private and public events including charity fundraisers, private benefits and tradeshows. She said her only hope for the trip was that it exposed like- minded people to new ways to enjoy the different cultural events, fashion, music and beauty that the Bayou has in store.
The Naw’lins Route trip departs Friday, March 4th and returns on Sunday, March 6. They have added the Fat Tuesday Route in honor of Spring Breakers looking for a way to head over to “the Big Easy” for the major festivities. That trip leaves Saturday March 5th and returns Wednesday March 9th.
Green also planned another trip to Jazz in the Gardens in Miami on March 18-21. Other plans include bus trips to the Essence Musical Festival for the summer, as well as two seasonal trips for Florida A&M and Florida State University football away games.
