It is that wonderful time of the year, where the rivalry of all rivalries happen, the Florida Classic in Orlando.
The Rattlers of Florida A&M University will take on the Wildcats of Bethune Cookman University in the 29th annual game.
It is a weekend of non-stop fun, but many Rattlers will not participate this year. The classic is a bit too close to the Thanksgiving holiday and end of semester finals.
Some students said this year they just aren’t able to afford it, especially with a “recession” and the poor status of the economy.
Many students are cutting back on luxurious spending and have to prepare themselves for finals.
Some upperclassmen feel that the classic is just for freshman because many of them are nearing graduation.
Where has the excitement for Rattler football gone?
But this season people should be excited.
The football team is doing well this season; as of right now they are fourth in the MEAC standings.
If they win the Florida Classic game, it could place the Rattlers in the top three.
This should be reason enough for students to go show their support.
Even if students don’t attend in large numbers, FAMU’s alumni will.
Maybe the Florida Classic will be a success or maybe it will be somewhat a letdown like homecoming.
Either way as always this will be a weekend to be remembered.
