After Baja’s Beach Club’s closing around 2 a.m. Sunday, a group of partygoers gathered outside.
Lt. White, a watch commander for the Tallahassee Police Department, said a fight occurred, resulting in a shooting. TPD then received a number of calls from observers.
The suspect-a black male of college age wearing a button down shirt and blue jeans-got away, and the case is under investigation.
Kumasi Aaron, 20, a junior business administration student from Sebring, Fla., was one of the party’s hosts and the victim was her classmate. She wasn’t at the scene, but she visited the shot victim at the hospital afterwards. “It’s very unfortunate,” she said.
He was a bystander, Aaron said, and “it could have been anyone” who got hurt that night.
Aaron is trying to do something with local clubs to enhance safety and prevent incidents like this because “many FAMU students go clubbing and we should be safe.”
