Professor Skerritt

Andrew Skerritt, assistant professor of journalism and Famuan adviser, is a graduate of Howard University. He obtained his master’s from Winthrop University. Before coming to Florida A&M, he was a columnist and an editor for the St. Petersburg Times. He also was an award winning columnist and editor for the Rock Hill (SC) Herald, and a reporter and editor with the Asbury Park Press. After college graduation from Howard, he worked as a reporter for  Gannett Westchester Newspapers, which has since been renamed the Journal News. His personal essays and columns have appeared in numerous publications, including the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. He grew up on the Caribbean island of Montserrat.

The article "Students donate plasma in exchange for cash" is incorrect. I work for Southeastern Community Blood Center. We are a nonprofit community blood center regulated by FDA and accept volunteer blood donations only. Blood donors are never offered cash; FDA forbids paying for donations at community blood centers. We would appreciate you putting a correction in your next online issue. It seems Mr. Alceus neglected to check his facts in writting his story.
