After over 30 years of service, Sports Information director Alvin Hollins has been given until tomorrow, Oct. 2nd to resign from his position or he will be fired.

The Famuan contacted Hollins, who said he was "unable to confirm or deny anything about the situation."

The decision to let Hollins go did not come from Athletic Director Bill Hayes, who was unavailable for comment.

The Famuan will update this story as soon as more information becomes available.

I feel as an ex ball player for FAMU, that Alvin Hollins has done a great job during his tenure at FAMU. We as a people are so quit to criticize others without knowing anything about the situation WOW and the same ones that's been smiling in his face over the years.

How much staff does it require to post the 2009 Football Schedule or Roster on the website prior to the FIRST game of the 2009 season? How much staff do you need to peck the keys on a computer on YOUR desk?

NO EXCUSES!!

If FAMU sports information has beein "pathetic" it is more a reflection of being understaffed and under funded. Anyone who critisizes Hollin's work would be more believable if they walked a mile in his shoes. Their tune would change after that walk I am certain

For the past 20 years, FAMU's sports information has been pathetic. Don't talk about Hollins has had FAMU's back. FAMU has had his back and should have fired him years ago. We really don't know why he was fired. For all we know, he may have done something inappropriately while working all of those "tireless" hours.

Why don't we just wait patiently for the details?

FAMU will be hard presses to find someone to fill Hollins' shoes. For 20 years I have watched him write publications and work long tireless hours without a complaint, and that is just one aspect of his responsibility. It will take at LEAST 2 people to do his job. His loyalty and dedication may never be matched. Too bad he's had FAMU's back for 30 years and now it seems loyalty is a 1 way street.

Are you sure that the soon-to-be-former Sports Information director has "nothing to do with the NCAA?" I mean, if the bookstore does... and a music tutor does... why wouldn't the Sports Information Director?

Hollins has nothing to do with the NCAA. FAMU should have fired him long time ago because of poor performance.

Talk about a Hobson's Choice... I wonder what he did? I smell an NCAA investigation...
