Face your doubt, embrace your potential

When it comes to achieving our dreams, our goals and our passions, the only factor that keeps us from attaining our objectives is ourselves. We hold our destinies in the palm of our hands. It’s up to us to decide whether we will succeed.

With graduation around the corner, we should be aware that this is the end of our college journey and the beginning of a new and defined success. We have made it this far, and there’s no turning around. So continue to let your success embrace you.

A part of growing up is learning what your purpose is in life. At this stage of our journey, many of us are aware of our purpose, but we are too afraid to fulfill it.

Marianne Williamson, an accomplished author and lecturer, summed this feeling up best.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate,” she said. “Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.”

What she means in this quote is that we are afraid of our success. Some are afraid of failure while many feel that success is based on luck.

I say we should not be afraid of our powers. We should enable them and believe in ourselves. If we do not believe in ourselves, how can we expect others to?

Former businessman and publisher John Johnson said: “You’ve got to live beyond your means. You’ve got to commit yourself to an act or vision that pulls you further than you want to go and forces you to use your hidden strengths.”

Our fears often deal with worrying about uncertainty. We have to start believing that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves. Once we start making our success a top priority, we will definitely gain confidence in our craft and start to believe that anything is possible.

Being afraid will only hinder our futures. Many of us are afraid of what we do not know. If you have a fear of failure, it’s time to have faith and start educating yourself in your craft. No one ever made money off of being afraid.

So stay away from negativity and learn from your mistakes. Turn your self-doubts into self-love and know that you are successful and you should not be afraid of it.
