Greetings and salutations all! I am Anthony Ward, a second-year business administration major from St. Petersburg Fl.

Let me be the first to welcome you to The FAMUAN's blog for Power Shift 2011, a nationwide youth conference on environmental change and sustainability in Washington D.C. We have 40+ excited students and faculty from FAMU and FSU heading on a bus there now.

This blog has been created for photos, videos and summaries about all the seminars at Power Shift. Expect different views and voices as students from around the country and world discuss the conferences. We are all ready for the experience of a lifetime!

Here's a quick synopsis for those who have been living under a rock and haven't heard about Power Shift: The Power Shift Conference is a youth summit that happens every few years in Washington D.C. More than 10,000 students from around the country are coming to let their collective voices be heard on the global climate crisis.

Several seminars, events and activities will be the event's focus to promote awareness about how our environment is in trouble and what we need to do to save it.

Now that you are up to date with one of the biggest events happening in America, it is time to bring it back to why this blog was created. During Power Shift, it is expected that everyone will be involved in everything that this conference has to offer.

I hope to see this blog full of entries from our members very shortly. Remember everyone: this blog is only as good as you make it. So let's try to make this an excellent blog with posts about meetings, useful information that will benefit our cause and crazy shenanigans that we are bound to get into during our time here in Washington D.C. Well I think I went on long enough for an introduction. It's time I made entries of my own.

Hope you enjoy the blog and the trip.

Later, Rattlers and Seminoles.
