Decent doesn’t do this pizzeria justice

When done correctly, pizza is the king of all foods and Decent Pizza is very close to having that title.

Decent Pizza is a family-owned restaurant dedicated to making the best pizza pies in town. The restaurant has been voted Best Pizza in Tallahassee for five years in a row now.

The menu has a wide variety of specialty pizzas and toppings to choose from. And if you are interested in trying something other than pizza, their diverse menu also offers salads, sandwiches, wings and desserts.

The restaurant made me think of simpler times. The atmosphere had a grunge rock ’n roll feel to it. I would describe the process of making the pizza as a clotheslines ordering system. You are able to watch the cooks make the pizza. (You can literally see them tossing the pizza dough behind the counter).

I was able to catch them during one of their few specials. Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Decent offers lunch specials that include a slice with one topping and a drink for 5.90 or a slice with 1 topping and a salad for $10.25. I was a little skeptical that the one slice was not going to fill me up – but I was in for a surprise.

It was not long before the waitress brought out my huge, hot, stringy cheese pepperoni pizza. Paired with a frosty lemonade, I was in culinary heaven. I dug in fully expecting leftovers for lunch the next day because the pizza was about the size of my arm but leftovers didn’t happen.

Some of the other specials include two-for-one draft beer with medium or large pizza on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. Also, every Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to close they offer a free pitcher with a large pizza.

“It’s a laid back pizza parlor that reminds me of a flash from the past. My slice had great sauce, high quality toppings and the one slice was enormous,” customer Jamal Noble said.

Bottom line, I fully enjoyed Decent Pizza. If you want mouth-watering pizza, cold drinks, and a nostalgic atmosphere, this is definitely the place. Check them out online at: www.decent-pizza.com. They offer carryout, delivery, and dine-in.
