Keke’s Breakfast Cafe debuts

The Variety Plaza Center’s newest addition is open and ready for business.

Keke’s Breakfast Café, a prominent breakfast chain in Central Florida, has  added a franchise in Tallahassee. Located on West Tennessee Street next to Super Cuts, the restaurant celebrated its grand opening Wednesday morning. It was pushed back a day due to a nearby fire.

“The first day went pretty well. We received a lot more people than we expected. We purposely don’t advertise, just open the doors, but I guess word of mouth traveled pretty fast,” said Sandra Lovos, general manager for Keke’s Breakfast Café. 

Upon entering the café, three large windows face the front allowing natural sunlight to beam through. Inside, it has a modern-style theme with abstract food art across the walls, high burgundy booths and individual tables along the window fitting approximately one hundred guests.

With the slogan “It’s like your hometown diner grew up and went to the city,” Keke’s serves a scratch-made breakfast and lunch using fresh ingredients, including fruits and vegetables that are delivered daily — while putting the customer’s needs first.  

The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast items such as waffles, pancakes, omelets, etc. to lunch options like sandwiches, salads, burgers and more. Prices range from $5 to $13, making it quite affordable.

Keke’s Breakfast Café is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Breakfast is served all day with lunch beginning at 10 a.m.

“Very, very satisfied with the customer service, and the food itself was great,” said Eddie Lee, a Florida A&M University graduate, and first-time customer. “The blueberry stuffed French toast and the side of eggs with provolone cheese were amazing,” Lee added.

According to the website, Keke’s Breakfast is committed to creating an experience that provides an alternative to what breakfast has become and reminding the customer of what breakfast should be.

The new restaurant, however, does not partake in reservations but instead operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

“On a scale of  1 to 10, I rate the place a 15; the food was so good and the customer service was outstanding,” said Aleya Bradley, a recent graduate of FAMU and returning customer.

When asked what can customers expect, Lovos replied, “Speedy service and hopefully taking Keke’s Breakfast Café to a new level on the breakfast scene.”
