The Florida A&M University chapter of Collegiate 100 marked its 10-year anniversary of being a chartered on-campus organization during Homecoming week.

It was started on June 21, 2008 and its members took advantage of the festive spirits to celebrate during homecoming with a few special brotherhood-bonding events.

On Thursday, Oct. 4, Collegiate 100 partnered with Manhood On The Go to present 1 Brother 2 Another Men’s Expo. The expo was comprised of a host of successful Rattlers and prospering entrepreneurs talking about careers, entrepreneurship and manhood. Meanwhile, multiple vendors from FAMU’s very own alum, Joshua Allrich (RichDiv) to another Rattler in business, Jordan (Twisted Tees Inc.) united to give more than $10,000 in scholarships to young and deserving male FAMU students.

George Olokun, a Collegiate 100 charter member, was a guest speaker at the event and Rylan Curtis, vice president of membership for Collegiate 100, received the “From a Queen to a King” scholarship sponsored by Brittny James.

“I am extremely honored and excited to be one of few to receive From a Queen to a King scholarship. The expo was very beneficial not only to myself but to everyone who attended and contributed,” Curtis said.

At Homecoming Convocation, alumni brothers got to officially meet and formally introduce themselves.

“Past and current brothers gathered at the Homecoming Convocation to kick off our 10 year anniversary was definitely fulfilling to have our older brothers come back home and see how much the organization has grown and how it’s continuing to flourish,” said Quin Kelley, vice president of programs and events for Collegiate 100.

Collegiate 100 concluded its 10-year celebration Sunday, Oct. 7 with an anniversary brunch that was held at Primetime lounge on West Tennessee Street. New and old brothers got a chance to bond and network.

“I really enjoyed the Homecoming brunch. I was able to connect with past brothers. Some of these guys are working in the career field I am, so it was great to become a part of their network. Lastly, I was able to see how strong our bond is and how connected my organization is,” said Roderick Wilkins, current president of Collegiate 100.

Collegiate 100 is an auxiliary program of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. The primary purpose of the Collegiate 100 program is to provide a path for 100 Black Men chapters to continue their one-on-one and group mentoring to students as they transition from high school to college; thereby supporting the “Mentoring The 100 Way Across a Lifetime” initiative.
