The Florida A&M men's basketball team (6-14, 2-5) fell short of a victory in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rivalry match-up against Bethune Cookman University 88-56, Saturday evening at Moore gym, which held 1,090 people.

The Rattlers shot 32.7 percent from the field making only 18 of 55 shot attempts and shot 55.6 percent  from the free throw line going 15 for 27. The Rattlers also shot 22.7 percent from beyond the arc knocking down only five of the 22 shot attempts.

Saturday’s loss dropped the Rattlers road record to 0-10, also making it 4 consecutive losses to Bethune Cookman.

Head coach Byron Samuels was not happy with the loss.

"I think sometimes you have to be a junkyard dog and just get things done on the road and tonight we weren't that," he said.

Malcolm Bernard and Craig Bowman combined for 34 points and 15 Rebounds. Samuels was pleased with their performances but felt that they could have played better.

"They are good student athletes, I care about them and are very fortunate to have them on my team. But even though they had a good performance I know they still could have played better."

Samuels added that they have to come into Monday’s game against North Carolina Central University ready to fight.

"We have to continue to get better and reach our full potential every time we step out there on that court and play every game like it’s our last game," Bowman said.

Bethune Cookman's Mario Moody had a career high with 25 points, seven rebounds, and one blocked shot.

Game time is set for 8 p.m. at the Al Lawson Center FAMU Athletics.
