There are several factors that contribute to the appearance of one’s skin; whether that being genetics, a poor diet, hormones, or the lack of properly cleansing your face. Whatever the reason, there is no one solution for everyone. There are tons of “superfoods” that one can consume that will do the work, resulting in an enhanced complexion and possibly blemish/acne-free skin!

Below are three powerful skin foods that you will want to start incorporating in your diet. Not only do they benefit your skin topically, they are amazing for one's health. Antioxidant packed foods reduces sebum production in the body, which are the glands that produce the oil you feel on your skin, and that contributes widely to the production of acne. If you are one that battles any form of acne, whether it being moderate or severe, you want to continue reading!

Green Tea

Green tea fights some of the underlying causes of acne: inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and resistance to insulin. EGCG is the predominant antioxidant that one can find in most green teas.  Suffering from inflammation and redness often? One may want to start incorporating a cup of green tea into their daily routine for a bright and glowing complexion.

Berries are packed with antioxidants. Berries such as strawberries and blackberries are also a great source of Vitamin C, which essentially is a super antioxidant, helps the body produce more collagen, resulting in strengthened skin; naturally fighting impurities and bacteria that clogs pores. These fruits are also great for fighting signs of aging.

Not a big fan of eating fruits? Instead, opt for a berry smoothie. All of the nutrients and skin benefiting properties right in one cup.

Olive Oil

Olive oil has active anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that are just as beneficial on the inside as it is on the outside. Olive oil dates back to ancient times, where Romans would apply the oil topically to their skin to achieve soft, supple skin. It also works from the inside; fighting free radicals and reducing inflammation.

In addition to the foods listed above, one must balance a healthy diet and physical lifestyle. In doing this, one can start the journey of achieving a healthier complexion.
