Florida A&M homecoming concert promoter Willie ‘Will the thrill' McKenzie was arrested late Thursday night after he entered the WANM radio studios to confront an on air personality over comments she made about the upcoming event.

FAMU police cited McKenzie for trespassing then handcuffed him after a routine check showed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for violating his probation. McKenzie was released from Leon County Jail Friday morning, according the county sheriff's office Web site.

The incident occurred before 10 p.m Thursday when McKenzie, the president of Double Trouble Entertainment Inc, entered the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication building with two other men, walked to the third floor and entered the radio station studio through a side door that was left unlocked. At the time, Deidra ‘Dee Dee Roc' Fields was on the air for her three-hour show.

"I was standing outside waiting to get into the building when three guys walked to the door and tried to get in…they seemed upset," said Faran Foy, 19, a Florida State English student from Jacksonville. Foy, The Famuan online editor was in the building working on the newspaper's Friday online edition.

"When we got upstairs they tried to enter the main entrance of the station but the doors were locked, he kept saying she's messing with my money" Foy said.
McKenzie has been criticized by some students for the lyrics of the rappers in the concert line-up. Fields raised the issue during her show.

"She [Fields] basically said she had good news and bad news…Li'l Webbie was confirmed for the concert but Hurricane Chris' management said they were not 100 percent confirmed," said disc jockey Natasha ‘NB' Britton, who was in the studio at the time of the incident.

Within minutes Fields received a call from McKenzie asking what happened.  Ten minutes later he was at the station confronting Fields about her commentary.

"I saw someone walk by the studio door…I asked him [McKenzie] how he got in the station…he told me don't worry about that," said Britton, 23, a graduate business student from Fort Lauderdale.

Fields immediately dialed 9-1-1.

McKenzie said the station was criticizing the concert and that would ultimately hurt ticket sales.

"Nothing negative was said about the concert on the air," said Sean Woods, WANM operations manager. "The homecoming concert will not be mentioned on the radio."
Student Activity and Service fees fund the annual event.

"They [Double Trouble] had the best proposal and best interview during the selection process…our entire process has been transparent," said SGA President Gallop Franklin.

FAMU as a whole has gotten too high and mighty to a point. The main people complaining are probably dancing the hardest in the club when these particular artists songs come on. Its a college. Work hard, but play hard too. Everyone should stop being so up tight. If these particular artists don't tickle your fancy. Don't go. I wasn't impressed by the lineup so I'm not going. It's simple. I don't have to convince everyone else not to go. Everyone can make their own decision.

You guys get so hung over on the small stuff. Even with the misspellings the thoughts are clear. Have you all considered that people are writing from their mobile phones, like I am right now. Stop trying to sit high and mighty. Come down off your orange and green horse and discuss the issues. Good day sir.

I would like to say to those making attempts to correct others, such as the last post, it would be in your interest to at least spell check. Additionally, it helps to read over your comments before posting. How are you going to correct someone when your spelling and grammar errors make it difficult to understand what you are saying. If you work at Disney, then you have a job, so purchase a computer that has a spelling/grammar review button.
You guys are not getting the point

Foolishness:

You sound real ignorant. I NEVER said threatening Dee Dee Roc was acceptable. And to address your concerns about a "20-something" KID having an opinion, last time I check 20-something was an ADULT. Trust me when I say the promoter does not have a suitcase with $150,000 dollars. There are other apart of the process. All I am saying is people should watch what they say on public airwaves and in public venues. Dee Dee Roc opinions are her own, but when you work in Corporate America, like I do, you CONSTANTLY represent your company and yourself. There is no way I would tweet negative and uncomfirmed things about my COMPANY under the premise of "Freedom of Speech." Dee Dee Roc is her radio name. Deidra Fields is her government. If your brother is a trustee then I am sure her knows about the transparent process of selecting the HC concert chair---WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN A STUDENT!!!!!!! I work in the media, for Disney to be matter of fact, and I do not suppiort any type of harm to any journalist. But Dee Dee Roc is a gossip. Nothing more, nothing less. If this is the most shocking thing you have seen in your 40+ years of being in tallahassee...clearly you need to leave Tallahassee and get a taste of the real world. You clearly don't know what ther process was. Student votes, a budget was allocated, funds estimated, and so forth. And we keep screaming $150,000, which was a budget not a check, when its NOT that mucgh money. As a 25 year old KID my portfolio balances WAY more than that.

J-School does need security! He was just arrested 3 weeks ago for possesion of a concealed weapon. He could have hurt her! Radio personalites are very opinionated, but she's telling the truth to some extent. The concert line up is HORRIBLE! In defense of SGA, I will say that they had an online poll where students could vote for who they wanted. Partial blame falls back on the students for not voting for who they wanted to see, or students just picking horrible artist.

In response to State the Facts:

-There's no reason why that amount of money should be given to students. The concert was unstable from the start. There are several flyers promoting the concert within the last few weeks with different artists on each flyer. UNSTABLE!I saw a TV commercial with Gucci Guy on it the other day when WCTV annnounced that he wouldn't be performing last Tuesday! Since you want to speak facts, NO student should be in charge of $150,000. Especially one who has a criminal record & the lack of expertise. I've never seen anything like this during my 40+ years in Tallahassee. You sound very ignorant supporting someone who came to confront the media. Its obvious these little fellas aren't that bright. That's what's wrong with the institution now. They have KIDS handling ADULT business.Where's the supervision? However, the blame should be place on the individuals who hired these Troubled Kids. What in the heck were they thinking? My brother is a FAMU Trustee, and I will be speaking to him on this matter. An internal investigation should be conducted to find out how these kids were selected. And to the young person "State the Facts", your maturity level has been determined by your comments.I'm sure you are a 20-something year old kid yourself, so this is understandable. And the radio disc jockey is also a kid. These promoters are obviously immature. Who would place $150,000 in their hands."She's messing with my money". There's no telling what these knuckle heads were trying to do to this young woman.Wow, instead of Officials continuously covering up lies, they need to clean up this mess.God Bless! And let's all enjoy Homecoming!!!

Even though Double Trouble Entertainment my be busted, Dee Dee Roc, WANM, FAMU SGA or whoever else better pray that all the trash talkin that is surrounding this concert is factual. If Dee Dee is saying this one or that one isn't performing and DT Entertainment isn't holding up to their promises and that isn't the case!!! There maybe some potential legal issues!! I wish the concert, DT Entertainment and SGA the best of luck with the concert and performers!!

Dee Dee Roc did talk about the HC concert on the radio. That's how I knew to become her follower. She publized her "private" Twitter account on the "public" airwaves and told listeners to follow her for up to the minute HC concert news. She is beyond messy. I don't think anyone should be threatened BUT she bit off too much they her a** couldn't handle. And that's not even all the tweets. PLUS she had recorded shows uploaded online discussing the concert.

WOW! Since when are personal tweets from twitter connected to the radio? This chick can say whatever she wants on her twitter page! Its called Freedom of Speech!!! Are you serious, but saying all of that on the radio would be a different story. And there's no way all of that was said on the radio. Im a loyal listener, especially to the Entertainment News and I've never heard all of this on the radio.

The problem is: SGA selecting their "friends" who tote guns and have no track record to handle $150,000.

Let's state the facts
Tue Oct 20 2009 20:21
We as journalist need to state the facts! I DO NOT think it was right to threaten the DJ, but she has been running off her mouth EVERY show including the Saturday Morning Show about the concert and who is and is not confirmed BEFORE the school could put out “official” information. She really wants to spearhead the HC concert next year, which is a good step in the right direction. BUT she is going about it the wrong way. She “called” Plies manager. She “texted” Hurricane Chris “people.” She has “connects” that provide her with “information.” Yet, she does not bother to confirm it with the university or the promoter. ROC Promotions is the name and slander is the game. Case closed. FAMU media needs to do better. Sean D and Keith need to actually LISTEN to the shows and realize the truth. Nothing bad said about the concert? For real Sean? You just lost creditability points.

I just want to simply state that if someone is going to rant and rave in the comment section, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use spell check !!! The "phantom Gallop and SGA lover" posting comments needs to utilize their degree, do everyone a favor and learn how to read, write, type and spell. Clearly, the only thing that is sad is that they're an alumni of FAMU.

In light of what has come to fruition with this Will guy and his twin brother SGA needs to be checked and quickly. With the amount of money SGA recieves per year along with Student activities money (I think it's between $3-6 million per year) FAMU cannot afford to make decisions. What are the advisors doing? At the end of the day we have to remember that the average age of the people in control of this large amount of money is like 22. The SGA faculty advisor should have veto power on any decision made by these kids. I know at other state schools they do? I wouldn't let a group of 22 year old have free range with $4 million dollars, when they cant even control the overdraft fees on their personal accounts. I don't miss those days!

How are we supposed to effectuate change when we can't even infultrate the S.G.A structure? No Will is not excused. Yes, it violent for someone to pretty much break into school property and then to go inside of the WANM office. That is threatening behavior. I am a former journalism student and I know what it is like to work late hours in that building. To think that someone can storm in while you are working to confront you about doing your JOB is terrifying. Was it worth calling 9-11? I can't believe you have the audacity to ask that boneheaded question. You clearly must have lost the sense you were blessed with. Do you truly think it is OK for a man to come into a small studio, which is usually locked, and confront a woman. Lastly not speaking about the concert is preposterous FREEDOM OF SPEECH? My question is did the DJ slander this concert promoter prob not. We, as journalist, have a right to talk about the concert whether it's going to be the best in history or if it's going to be the biggest failure. Do better people. Let's think outside the box. Get better line ups, hire better people and I hate to say it learn from other universities on how they secure contracts for concerts. Apart of becoming something great is learning from others. I'm done.
