FAMU’s Sophomore Class President Caleb Reaves was arrested on charges of lewd or lascivious battery of a child, according to the Taylor Police Department.

Reaves, 18, from Perry, was taken into custody June 11 and was let out on bond the same day, said investigator Donna Lee. Reaves, who served as the former Florida A&M University Freshman Class President, will stand in court July 16 and learn all charges bought against him, according to his Attorney Robert Morris

Reaves would not comment on the charge, but Morris said the allegations are “serious and significant” that may “impact (Reaves) present and his future.”

He said, “Reaves will continue with normal everyday life and continue pursuit of his education and any extracurricular activity,” Morris said.

The attorney said Reaves had a written plea of not guilty.

According to Florida statue 800.04(4), lewd or lascivious battery is any person who forces or entices a person less than 16-years-old to engage in sadomasochistic abuse, sexual bestiality, prostitution, or any other act involving sexual activity. If convicted a person would be forced to register as a sexual offender in Florida and throughout the United States.

Reaves definitely did not admit to anything. If he admitted to oral sex at 15, then why is he being charged for lewd and lascivious at 18 years of age. Dont make sinse. Thats not the crime. I believe the perry police department has some explaining to do.

Mr. reaves never admitted anything that is relevant to oral sex (especially in his statement). Hes much smarter that to admit anything about this case. His statement just tells that there are allegations against him and what exactly they are. His statement says, "there is an allegation" and he elaborates on it. Then he just talks about how "unfortunate" it is.
The only thing I am curious of is what Reaves knows that we don’t know for him to be sure of an optimistic outcome out of all of this. He must not have done it or he could have? We really don’t know.

Thats not true. Reaves never admitted that.

He admitted to having sexual contact with a boy who is 15 now, but was twelve when this happened. What more do u want? As unfortunate & disgusting as it might seem, it's the truth. He posted a letter on this same page admitting that something did occur & that the child was clearly underage. Whether u like it or not, boy or not, sexual contact with a 12yr old when u are 16/17 years old is against the law. Mr. Reaves has to be treated like any one else who commits a crime against a child!!!!

I known caleb for a while. I know he didnt do that. Whoever accused him is probably dealing with some jealosy issues. I agree with loveandpeace on how people try junk to bring you down. This is just like the black race sometimes, we get envious of others. We need to stop making lies about our brothers who are doing things in the community. Its many people who are guilty, but Caleb is Not!!
