Florida A&M University is making Friday more than just a day on The Set. City Commissioner Andrew Gillum will speak at The Black History Month Convocation.

The convocation will take place 10:10 a.m. in Jake Gaither Gymnasium.

Friday's festivities may include more than just the convocation. From 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. spring election candidates will rally for the Rattler vote on The Set.

Next month, Rattlers may have another reason to look forward to the end of the week. On March 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. FAMU students will get the chance to meet the state legislature in celebration of FAMU Day at the Capitol.

The day will celebrate the contributions FAMU makes to the state of Florida. With all of this year's achievements, we have a lot to celebrate, so mark your calendars!

One of the many causes to celebrate is the college of pharmacy.

The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences will host the 31st Annual Clinical Symposium from Friday to Sunday. The theme of this year's symposium will be health issues related to cancer. It will take place in the pharmacy building.

Free workshops discussing this issue will be a part of the weekend's symposium. Otis Kirksey, COPPS interim director, encouraged the black community to attend the workshops.

"Cancer continues to affect minority populations, particularly African Americans disproportionately," said Kirksey. "The 31st Clinical Symposium has exciting presentations from nationally known speakers and will facilitate intriguing discussions related to the management of cancer and strategies to eliminate cancer-related health disparities."

Whether you choose to participate in FAMU elections, attend the convocation, celebrate FAMU Day, or attend the symposium, upcoming Fridays at FAMU are looking promising for Rattlers.
