Florida A&M will next month host a film festival showcasing the contributions African-Americans writers, actors and directors.
FAMU's Office of Student Activities and Lyceum Series is working with the Tallahassee Film Society and the Tallahassee Film Festival to highlight African-Americans in the film and entertainment industry and to give recognition to those FAMU alumni and staff who have also enhanced the field.
The festival will also commemorate black history month and celebrate FAMU's 125th anniversary. "Our Mission at TFF is ‘to nurture all aspects of film culture and stimulate economic development,'" said Lou Armesto, TFF board chair, according to the FAMU website. The festival will take place from Feb. 3 to 29.
Scheduled events include an advance movie screenings, writer's workshops, lectures, screenings of current and old films, matinee marathons, panel discussions and a few special guests.
