A new place to eat at FAMU

Florida A&M University students have been asking for new food options on campus for a while and this new restaurant may provide just that.

Tally’s Hot Chicken is a new restaurant on campus that looks to provide students with a new food option to choose from. As the name insinuates, the restaurant serves chicken along with various sides and drinks. The restaurant is available on the GrubHub app to students, however, the only option at the moment is delivery.

“I feel that it is a great idea, something new for students to eat outside of the ones we have already,” said Monique Brown, a psychology scholar from Tallahassee, Fla. “It gives us a variety.”

FAMU already has restaurants across campus that cater to the tastes of students from different places such as WingStop, Chick-Fil-A, Tropical Smoothie, Starbucks, and Pizza Express, along with other eateries native to FAMU’s campus. With the addition of Tally’s Hot Chicken, it looks to introduce a new southern taste to the menu.

The menu displayed on the GrubHub app shows that you can order chicken wings, tenders, fried fish, a quarter, half or whole chicken. Sides include baked beans, coleslaw, collard greens, mac and cheese, potato salad, french fries, corn muffins, buttered biscuits and buttermilk waffles. The drinks are all Pepsi products along with bottled water.

“Even though Tallahassee already has a lot of places that sell a lot of chicken I feel like this will be something different,” stated Micah Williams, a recent transfer student. “The food reminds you of stuff you would get back home.”

Although the restaurant is delivery only, they will be operating out of the Orange Room on campus next to Chick-Fil-A. The Orange Room is located in the University Commons and across from Lee Hall on Lee Hall Dr.

“I look forward to trying it out soon, especially since all they’re doing is delivering. I don’t have to wait in line or come to them so it’s really beneficial,” said Jamar Brown, a third-year engineering student.

Tally’s Hot Chicken looks to solidify itself on campus as a new favorite that offers a new taste and convenience to students and staff.
