Students at Florida A&M University believe that a man was killed this morning in what school officials are calling a “traffic incident” on the edge of
FAMU’s campus.

The Tallahassee Police Department confirmed the fatality, and added that the deceased was not a FAMU student.

At 9:07 a.m. today, FAMU officials sent out an email stating that there was “police
activity near School of Business & Industry – West (N&W). Traffic incident on Robert and
Trudie Perkins Way and Wahnish Way. Please avoid area and use alternative routes to
campus.”

Crime scene tape can be seen along with police vehicles and a large truck — possibly a
tow truck — at the stop sign at the intersection of Orr Drive and Robert and Trudie
Perkins Way. There was blue tarp covering the back of the large truck.

FAMU Police have not released a statement at this time on whether or not anyone was
injured or what caused the accident.

Robert and Trudy Perkins Way was closed between Wahnish Way and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
A section of Wahnish Way was also closed.
