Florida A&M University is hosting its homecoming Oct. 23 through Oct. 30. FAMU’s homecoming will be “epic” with appearances from Kevin Hart, Lil Baby, Moneybagg Yo, Will Packer, Desi Banks and more.

FAMU kicked-off its homecoming festivities with a drive-in movie at Bragg Memorial Stadium showcasing the movie titled, “Drumline”, on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. The event was followed by the FAM Blessings and Brunch Worship Experience at Gaither Gym at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 24.

FAMU typically hosts a gospel concert, however, FAMU’s King of Orange and Green, Chazriq Clarke says that the plan is to have an event that would appeal to the current generation of students.

“I wouldn’t say we aren’t having a gospel concert,” Clarke said. “We’re having a different kind of event that may cater more to our generation. It’s called Blessings and Brunch,” he said.

The Coronation and Coronation Ball was also held on Oct. 24, in the Lee Hall Auditorium, while the Ball was in the Grand Ballroom on FAMU’s campus.

FAMU students was most excited about some of the biggest events that will be happening during homecoming week. FAMU hosted two step shows, a pep rally, a beauty and wellness expo, a homecoming concert and much more.

“The biggest homecoming events coming up that everyone should know about and come to are the housing step show, Greek step show, the fashion show, and the homecoming concert,” Clarke said. “Those are the top picks on my lists.”

FAMU Alumni are excited as well about the return of homecoming. Kendria Hawkins and Sanquaneice Hankerson-Pinkey Esq. are both graduates of FAMU and can’t wait to see the turnout of this year’s homecoming.

“Every year brings a rush of excitement!,” Hawkins said. “Returning to the hill always brings me joy.”

Pinkey says she’s happy that homecoming is back as well, however she hopes that everything is being done to keep everyone safe.

“I don’t think homecoming should be canceled,” Pinkey says. “However, I hope there are parameters in place to keep Rattler students, alumni, and supporters safe.”

The FAMU homecoming game, tailgate, and parade will all be held on Oct. 30, starting off with the parade at 8 a.m. The game kick-off will be at 4 p.m. at Bragg Memorial Stadium, as the university faces off against Grambling University.

Niyah Dixon, a junior facilities management major at FAMU, says she can’t wait to see the Marching 100 in action on game day.

“For the past three home games, the halftime show has been different and amazing,” Dixon said. “So, for homecoming it will not only be the best but the most exciting halftime show.”

While FAMU is hosting a ton of their own events, there are several events happening in honor of FAMU’s homecoming all week in Tallahassee starting with a block party at Potbelly’s that hosted by Winners Circle Entertainment.

The Brothers of the Omicron Gamma Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha will also be hosting a rhythm and blues event called, “Venom and Vibez”, on Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at The Dogwood House in celebration of FAMU homecoming. The event will showcase some up-and-coming artists here in Tallahassee.
