Nick Jonas is a budding photographer and videographer. He is also a senior business administration major at Florida A&M University.

Initially, Jonas was solely interested in videography, but his infatuation with tight images led him to photography.

“Every time I see a clean image or a clean video after I’m done editing, I get so excited,” Jonas said. “After I started taking pictures I realized that I’m a visualizer, I like things that are appealing to the eye and once I realized that, I knew that this is exactly what I want to do.”

Born and raised in nearby Madison County. Jonas enjoyed being on the computer at an early age. The youngest of four siblings, Jonas was inspired by YouTubers. After graduating high school his dream of being a dentist would begin to fade after starting his YouTube channel.

“As a child I looked forward to getting on the computer and playing the game and that’s really all I looked forward to,” Jonas said. “I was allowed to go outside but, my parents really didn’t allow me to do much, and I used to hate that, but I realized that it was for the best.”

After graduating from North Florida Community College, he transferred to FAMU. Describing himself as humble, motivated and witty, Jonas is strongly driven to succeed in videography and photography. Jonas said that even though he has found his passion outside of his major, it is still important to attend college and have goals.

“College is needed for people who don’t know what they want to do, even if you don’t find your passion in the classroom, you will find it through networking,” Jonas said. “One of the most important things that FAMU has taught me is how to network.”

Jonas has been in photography for a year and has built a strong clientele.

Simeria Alexander, a recent nursing graduate from FAMU, recruited Jonas for her graduation photos. She said his energy improved the quality of the photos.

“He created a fun and easygoing atmosphere throughout the photoshoot,” Alexander said. “Most of my smiles were genuine because, he just knows how to draw that out of people.”

Alexander described him as passionate and said he loves what he does, and it shows in the quality of his work.

Christina Stapleton, a junior criminal justice major at FAMU, described Jonas as dependable and inventive.

“He is so meticulous with each shot and edit that you have no choice but to fall in love with the final photo,” Stapleton said. “You can always depend on Nick to provide the best quality of work in any shoot he does, whether it be for a headshot or a graduation photoshoot.”
