Currently, there are various infrastructure developments underway in Tallahassee — none bigger than the Cascades Projectin downtown.

Once completed, the Cascades Project is expected to revitalize downtown Tallahassee, making it a prime destination for workers, families and college students in the area. With the project months in progression, everything is going as planned.

Lindsey Magura, a North American Properties project manager, shares her feelings on the project.

“It’s so exciting to finally see everything being built from the ground up,” said Magura. “This project has been years in the making, seeing how much progress that has been made is so fulfilling.”

North American Properties is a privately held, multi-regional real estate operating company that has managed properties across the United States.

Multiple phases of the Cascades Project will be completed at different times over the next year and a half.

“We will open the eastern block, which includes the Office Building, AC by Marriott, Historical and Public Plazas in late 2020,” said Magura. “Our multi-family apartment building is beginning to take shape early and apartments will be available to lease Spring of 2021 — townhomes in Summer of 2021.”

The Cascades Project consists of 169 multi-family residential units, nine single-family homes, and Marriott International upscale AC Hotels brand that features 154 rooms and a rooftop bar.

Excitement is through the roof for everyone involved in the progression of the project, including local businesses, residents, and workers in the area. The Cascades Project is expected to benefit the entire community as the city of Tallahassee provides the 18-hour downtown that has been envisioned for so long.

Elizabeth Emmanuel has worked the Downtown Development Authority for over a year and is excited about the traffic Cascades Project will bring to the historical area.

“What’s really important to us is increasing the foot traffic downtown…the more foot traffic we have, the better off our businesses and events are,” said Emmanuel.

One of the main focuses of The Downtown Development Authority is the promotion and advocacy of events and businesses. The development of the Cascades project will bring the much-needed traffic local businesses desire.

Along with an extreme focus on the promotion, Emmanuel also expressed her appreciation for the opportunity and lifestyle the project will bring to the community.
