Black and brown people enraged about Bloomberg’s ‘stop and frisk’

Mayor Mike Bloomberg, 78-year-old billionaire and Democratic presidential candidate contributed to the implementation of the “Stop and Frisk” policy in NY.

This policy affects his campaign because it reminds many how black and brown New Yorkers, that looked “frisk-worthy,” were harassed.

Bloomberg’s policy gave the NYPD the unpleasant privilege to search black and brown people without a valid reason. This policy did more harm than good for people of color. It leaves people of color uncomfortable, fearful and even frustrated with the law enforcement New York.

According to www.nyclu.org, “An analysis by the NYCLU (New York Civil Liberties Union) revealed that innocent New Yorkers have been subjected to police stops and street interrogations more than 5 million times since 2002, and that Black and Latinx communities continue to be the overwhelming target of these tactics.”

Bloomberg’s campaign triggers Black and Brown people as he makes deaf-tone statements about the community and goes back on his word.

In 2013, Bloomberg made an idiotic statement on the 710 Wor Radio show in New York that led many to believe he may be a racist and his “stop-and-frisk” policy is to simply incriminate more people of color.

“They just keep saying, ‘Oh it’s a disproportionate percentage of a particular ethnic group.’ That may be but, it’s a non-disproportionate percentage of those who witnesses, and victims describe as committing the murder. In that case incidentally, I think we disproportionately stop whites too much and minorities too little,” said Bloomberg.

Something smells like bullcrap and it is coming straight from Bloomberg.

“Black Twitter” is lighting up the Twitter timeline with their personal experiences living under this policy in NY.

The founder and CEO of “We Have Stories” and the creator of the #BlackPantherChallenge, Frederick Joseph (Twitter: @FredTJoseph) tweeted his in-depth experience with the “stop-and-frisk” policy.

On Feb. 14, Joseph tweeted: “The officers looked at me and I’m sure I had a look of fear — … “What are you doing around here this time of night?” One asked… The original officer then proceeded to snatch my bag and while the other two officers began yelling for me to face the wall next to me. I began to have an anxiety attack and started hyperventilating…”

Bloomberg enabling that kind of inhumane act towards Black and Brown people only solidifies that he is not the candidate for me or this nation. This policy will only continue to push us back further as a society, rather showing progress towards a possibly harmonious future.

I know for sure he will not receive my vote.
