A new event, After Set Friday Happy Hour, has been on fire not far from FAMU’s campus.

After Set Friday, GVO has become the place to be. No Crowd Control and No Leisure Marketing are the promotion groups that put this event together.  This day party is 18 or older to enter and 21 or older to drink, and a valid ID is required because security is tight.

Usually starting at 3 p.m. the cost of drinks are five to one. Yes, that’s not a misprint. After every hour, the ratio goes down one.  For homecoming week, on Friday, GVO started at noon and drinks were five to one until 4 p.m.

The promotion teams walk around campus during Set Friday with free tickets to get into their jam-packed event.

“This party is the perfect way to turn up after The Set while you are still in the mood and lit,” said Chantis Bryant, a junior at FAMU.  “The atmosphere in there is one of a kind.”

For homecoming, GVO and the outside party areas were full and lively.  This event brought more people than anticipated and was an overall success, according to the promoters.

“I figured this party was going to be a hit, but not this big,” Nicolas Severado, co-founder of No Leisure Marketing, said.  “I have been very excited to see the crowd these past few weeks, especially for homecoming.”

GVO is located at 809 Railroad Avenue, at the intersection with Gaines Street. The crowd is diverse; ranging from young to old.

“Our goal is to give back to the Tallahassee community and college community, we want to cater and give back to this amazing HBCU, give them everything other students get across the tracks,” said Floyd Bostic, owner/founder of Wolfpack ENT and No Crowd Control.  “We had an idea this would take off, but not as fast as it did. This after party took off and became the number one success in the city of Tallahassee.  I really appreciate all the students who come out and partake in this event.”

Happy hour after Set Friday goes from 3-8 p.m.
