According to breastcancer.org “about 2,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2018. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000 “

Biology pre-med major Tonya Jackson believes what the fraternity is doing is powerful for both men and women.

“I’m really glad to see the Kappas bring awareness to breast cancer,” Jackson said. “A lot of people aren’t aware that men are also commonly diagnosed with breast cancer so seeing a fraternity bring light to a disease generally voiced by women is refreshing and a move in the right direction.”

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. isn’t new to providing awareness and charitable acts related to health. The organization also hosted a stop HIV/AIDS seminar to discuss the importance of dialogue and information in adolescent HIV prevention.

The fraternity also plans to hold a health day with aims to showcase individuals of the community how to eat better foods.
