Voodoo Dog is a funky hot dog orientated eatery. It also sells creative burgers, beers, and desserts.

It is a great place to get a quick meal with your family and friends.

Voodoo Dog has been open for seven years and is located on South Macomb, off of Gaines Street.

In the beginning, I was hesitant because I did not know what to expect from Voodoo Dog. As I entered, I was greeted with a smile and began looking over the menu.

If you’re a vegetarian, don’t be scared away by the fact that they only sell hot dogs and burgers. The hot dog or burger can be replaced with a veggie substitute for an extra 50 cents.

This restaurant is usually busy around noon because that’s when most nearby state workers and college students go to lunch. Their most popular dish on the menu is the “Jefferson.” This is a bacon-wrapped hot dog with house mac ‘n’ cheese.

At this restaurant, I ate the “Philly.” This hot dog consisted of saluted onions and peppers and provolone cheese.

After, I ordered I received my hot dog within 10 minutes. This hot dog tasted amazing. I never thought a stacked hot dog would taste that good. The customer service was great and the employee recommendations were spot on.

They have strange but good combinations and affordable prices. I did not expect to like this place as much as I did.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is really cool. A lot of college students hang out at Voodoo Dog because of the 80s pop culture vibe. They have retro video games to play and cool pictures around the walls. Some people go to Voodoo Dog just to relax and drink beers.

Voodoo Dog has its own customer parking. Sometimes parking is crowded which can frustrate customers. Voodoo Dog gives customers the option to eat inside, outside, or carry out. This is a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat. I highly recommend trying the different styles of hot dogs and burgers.
