FAMU entrepreneurs unite on Instagram

When it comes to student entrepreneurs, the campus of Florida A&M University is filled with them. From talented hairstylists, barbers, and makeup artists to up and coming business owners. Recently an Instagram page “@Rattlersinbusiness” was created showcasing many of these student entrepreneurs.

Fredline Pierre, a fourth-year pre-occupational therapy student from Miami, is the creator. When asked what inspired her to start the page she said, “We’re always talking about supporting each other, but it’s always just something that’s just being talked about but no action being taken. There are a lot of FAMU students who have their own business and are trying to take it off but they don’t know how to or have enough showcase time, so Rattlers in business is giving them the opportunity to showcase their work.”

One key rule Fredline instituted for being featured on the Instagram page is the person must be a current FAMU student, or FAMU alumni.

“My goal is to give FAMU students the opportunities to make money, get noticed, and learn about the business world. What I’m trying to accomplish is to get everyone to support each other because that’s what Rattlers in business is all about”.

Denishire Donovon, one of the many entrepreneurs on campus, has been featured on the Instagram page.

Donovan is a fourth-year Allied Health pre-physical therapy student from Palm Beach. She is also the owner of Queens Dollhouse, a 3D mink eyelash line.

Her business carries six unique styles of strip 3D mink eyelashes.

“I think Rattlers in business is great because it showcases fellow Rattlers who have their own business and helps us get exposure to other Rattlers on campus to be potential customers.

“Business hasn’t increased,” Donovan added, “but my followers have.”

Rattlers in business not only showcases the work and talent of young entrepreneurs at FAMU to other Rattlers, but it allows their hard work to reach those beyond FAMU as well.
