last summer is now bringing a new show to further engage sports fans in the Rattler Nation.

Rattler Productions, a production company within the Athletics Department, will offer fans a new media platform to keep up with all of their favorite Florida A&M University athletics teams with their new original sports show, “Strike Zone”.

“Strike Zone”, hosted by Alphonso Barber, Jessika Ward and Dei’Ja Martin will provide unprecedented access into the world of FAMU Athletics by covering statistics, game recaps, and athletic profiles. Viewers can expect a variety of fun segments and the “Final Strike,” a debate that will wrap up each show. The show aims to allow audiences to get to know players and coaches on a more personal level, and to connect the local community with the athletic programs that they support.

“It will give people the opportunity to meet the coaches and players and see what’s actually going on rather than just hearing about it and reading about it,” Ward, a senior broadcast journalism student, said.

All 16 of FAMU’s sports teams will be featured in the 30-minute weekly show, which first aired on February 8th on the FAMU Athletic Department’s official YouTube channel – GoFAMUAthletics – and is set to premier on FAMU TV-20 in March.

“With us you’re going to see what’s in the mind of an athlete, with them and their teammates, how they come together,” Ashlee Williams said. Williams serves as the director of “Strike Zone”.

The show also hopes to give students a platform to showcase their talents in the field of production and media and to prepare them for life after graduation.

“Although the show will be completely produced by students, it will maintain a level of professionalism and excellence that you would see on a station like ESPN or SunSports,” Endesha Robinson, Strike Zone producer and senior broadcast journalism student said. “It’s a true team effort and it gives us a chance to shine.”
