Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity host “Suits For Or Our Sons”

Florida A&M University Alpha Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. hosted their third annual “Suits For Or Our Sons” clothing drive Tuesday, to educate and provide male college students with professional clothing to obtain optimal success.

Alpha Xi chapter of ΚΑΨ advisor, Carl Goodman expressed that he supports the movement of the organization.

“It’s a worthy cause and a positive image for what these guys are doing,” Goodman said. “The first time we had this event most freshman and some of the upperclassman never had an opportunity to own a suite.”

Although the event’s main focus is giving the attendees a suit, there was much more in store.

The event began with multiple speakers advising the young men on picking out suits, how to take care of a suit, knowing how and when to dress professionally.

Graduating senior and member of Alpha Xi chapter of ΚΑΨ Douglas Bradshaw, expressed that the fraternity wanted show young man how to be professional.

“We wanted to teach them how to wear a suit, power colors for suits, the correct way to button a suit and how to conduct yourself in an interview,” Bradshaw said.

The guest participated in a few exercises such as a tie contest to make the event more interesting and hands on.

The participants got a chance to ask questions on what they were learning so they could fully understand what professionalism was.

Participant Dalvin Roberts expressed that the event was great and that he learned a lot from the fraternity.

“Every young man needs a suit pertaining to any point in his life, and the opportunity to get a free suit and to learn how to dress professionally made me enjoy this occasion,” Roberts said.

Bradshaw added that he hope that each young man learned that they could reach their full potential and sometimes that chance come by looking up to part.
