The Leon County Clerk and Comptroller office is hosting a one-stop shop passport fair at the Clerk’s Northeast Branch Office this week to prepare for spring break and summer travels.

This service is only being offered at the Clerk’s Northeast Branch Office, located at 1276 Metropolitan Boulevard Suite #101 in Tallahassee.

The Passport Fair will be held Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. by appointment only. It will be a one location destination to acquire a passport.

The fair allows applicants to complete the passport application and renewal forms. Along with the application, all of the paperwork will be certified and mailed off to the Bureau of Consular affairs.

Leon County Clerk & Comptroller Bob Inzer encourages those who are interested not to wait until to the last moments to apply. The application process can take up to six weeks for approval and he wants to make the process convent by offering appointments on Saturday.

“They are not required and are simply offered as a further convenience to our customers,” Inzer said.

What you need to bring to apply for a new passport or renew your existing passport:

1. Proof of Citizenship

2. Proof of Identity

3. Passport photograph or you can purchase a photo at the office

4. Method of payment: The U.S. Department of State fee must be check, cashier's check or money order; the acceptance facility fee ($25) and the photo fee ($10) may be paid in cash, by check or credit card.

5. When applying for minor children's passports, both parents and children must be present.

Passports issued to adults are valid for 10 years. Minors passports are good for five years.

The office is excited to offer this service to the community. A local Tallahassee man Henry Skelton who is planning to visit Nepal this summer was able to apply for a passport Monday. Skelton was thankful for the time saved.

“I’m glad I stumbled across this fair. This was much easier than running around from place to place to complete this process,” Skelton said. “I’m just thankful I got it all done.”
