The Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will celebrate another fun season with their ninth annual preseason Tackle Football Jamboree on Saturday at Messer Park.

The youth of Tallahassee gather each year to participate in the fall youth tackle football program. This season will be the 59th anniversary of the program and Brian Smatt; program supervisor is excited for the new season.

“Its going to kick the season off in a fun environment and its for the kids to have fun,” Smatt said,  “It’s really where kids can come and have a safe opportunity to play.”

The jamboree will incorporate “mini games” and there will also be a NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition during the event. Participants can come by between 10 a.m. and noon to participate and the competition is open to boys and girls ages 6-15.

Along with the event kids can take part in other activities such as bounce houses, balloon sculptures, face painting and refreshments will be available for purchase.

The event will be Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Messer Park. For more information on how to preregister and for rules, visit nflppk.com.
