Lady Rattlers shoot poorly in double-digit loss

The Lady Rattlers lost a stunner to in-state rival Bethune-Cookman University, 76-62.

Graduate guard Jasmine Grice led all scorers with 27 points, but her performance was no match for the Lady Wildcats (10-16, 7-7 MEAC).

Grice also led the Lady Rattlers (14-13, 8-6 MEAC) with 10 rebounds and five steals, but the Lady Rattlers shot just 33 percent from the floor, which stifled any hopes for a victory.

Turnovers and rebounds were the lone bright spots for Florida A&M, but foul trouble led to easy opportunities for B-CU.

Free-throw shooting was another error that ailed the Lady Rattlers. The team shot 50 percent from the free-throw line and committed a debilitating 32 fouls, compared to the Lady Wildcats’ 19.

The Lady Rattlers are off for the next eight days until they play Morgan State on March 3 in one of their final two home games at the Al Lawson Center.
