Lady Rattlers fall to Hampton

 

The Lady Rattlers began their three-game road trip Saturday, falling to the Hampton University Lady Pirates 59-39.

FAMU (10-17, 7-7 MEAC) struggled in the first half. The team trailed 15-4 early and never recovered.

The Lady Rattlers closed the gap to eight but went scoreless during an eight-minute stretch that resulted in a 20-point lead for Hampton (23-5, 14-0 MEAC).

In the second half, the Lady Rattlers were able to match Hampton with 26 points in the half but still lost by 20. FAMU shot 29 percent in the game and committed 17 turnovers.

Jasmine Grice, a junior guard from Quincy, Fla., led the Lady Rattlers with 13 points and nine rebounds, despite shooting 6-for-22.

Jamie Foreman, a sophomore forward from Beach Island, S.C., contributed eight points and five rebounds.

The Lady Rattlers will look to rebound Monday when they travel to Norfolk, Va., to take on the Norfolk State University Lady Spartans at 6 p.m.
