Lady Rattlers face big road tests

The Lady Rattlers have won 11 out of their last 13 games and look to get their third non-conference win of the season as they travel to take on the University Of South Florida Lady Bulls.

The Lady Rattlers are coming off a sweep of the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles and are looking to build on that momentum.

The Lady Rattlers come into the match 11-9 overall and 9-0 in Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference play and the Lady Bulls are 14-12 overall and 6-7 in the Big East Conference.

Head volleyball coach Tanio Trifonov knows the Lady Bulls will be a big test for his team and with the Lady Bulls. USF has a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) of 131 and a win against them could go a long way.

“It’s going to be a tough game, we are stepping out of conference and they are a good team,” Trifonov said. “We need to raise the level up and we need to be really aggressive and eliminate turnovers because a win like this could go a long way.”

Staying focused and consistent has been a problem for the Lady Rattlers this season. Karol Marquez, fourth year public relations student from Lima, Peru feels that her leadership can get the team focused and ready for this game.

“They are a good team and we need to be focused,” Marquez said. I will talk to the girls before the game and if we keep the pace, energy, and intensity up and also be consistent we can win this game. We need to put 100 percent into every play.”

Momentum is everything in sports and the Lady Rattlers are looking to ride their momentum in this game. Yeisha Arcia, a first year biology student from San Juan, Puerto Rico said the team is motivated and ready.

The Lady Rattlers play Tuesday Nov. 6, 2012 at The Coral in Tampa, Florida. The game starts at 7 p.m
