The Price is Right, Live! will be coming on down to the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center live this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The Price Is Right, which features entertaining games for the crowd, is a game show hosted by Drew Carey. Guests are picked straight from the audience to participate in the show.
CBS and Drew Carey won’t be in Tallahassee on Saturday, however, Emmy award-winner Todd Newton will fill in as host. Newton is best known for his work on E! Entertainment Television.
Newton has also hosted game shows such as Family Game Night, Whammy, Hollywood Showdown, Gameshow Marathon, Instant Millionaire and The Price is Right.
Guests who are chosen to “come on down” may win prizes like appliances, vacations and even new cars.
Tallahassee residents like Kara Irby are excited for the show and hope to make it to the stage.
“I’ve made this really awesome shirt, hoping that it will get me picked to win a new car,” Irby said.
Featured games include the popular Plinko and Cliffhangers, and guests will have a chance to spin the Big Wheel.
Charlotte Brown, the marketing director for the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center, thinks this is a unique experience for Tallahassee.
“You don’t have a lot of game shows that go on tour, so this is kind of unusual,” Brown said. “It all has to do with the routing, and they were doing quite a few Florida dates, and we were fortunate to bring this event to Tallahassee.”
Meghan McCallister, a third-year biology student from Thomasville, Ga., is excited about the opportunity to be a contestant on The Price Is Right, Live!
“It’s a show I grew up watching, and now I have the opportunity to actually be a part of it and hopefully win some awesome prizes,” McCallister said.
