Torque president issues statement

The president of Torque Dance Team, Genae Smith, issued a statement one week after the organization was suspended for an alleged hazing incident.

Smith expressed that the dance team stands behind the University’s decision to suspend the team and said that Torque is a non-hazing organization.

“We are offering 100% cooperation and is fully confident that we will be exonerated of all accusations upon completion of this tedious process,” Smith said.

We ask that all of our supporters (especially our fellow undergraduate Rattlers) to understand that the administration is simply ensuring the safety of its students.”

Florida A&M University’s Interim President Larry Robinson suspended the  dance team after the university received an anonymous letter about an alleged hazing incident.

FAMU’s Office of Communication released a statement stating that the dance team will be suspended until after the investigation.
