Isaac forces cancellation of many flights in Miami

MIAMI (AP) – Hundreds of flights at Miami International Airport have been canceled because of Tropical Storm Isaac.

With the storm beginning to buffet southeast Florida, about 250 arriving flights for Sunday were listed as canceled by 8:30 a.m., as were more than 200 departing flights.

Inside the American Airlines terminal, a group of people craned for a look out of one of the doors as a particularly strong band of Isaac began lashing the airport with strong rain and winds.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, the check-in line at the Southwest Airlines counter was completely empty at 7 a.m. Typically at that time on a Sunday the area is jammed, mainly by people leaving from

vacations and cruises.
